Age-friendly adaptive reuse of a Soviet-era residential complex

Conducted on-site research on elderly residents’ daily patterns and surrounding care facilities, supported by case studies and literature on age-friendly retrofitting in China and abroad.

Proposed a heritage-sensitive retrofitting strategy — elevator installation, barrier-free design, façade renewal, interior reconfiguration, roof transformation and site redesign — to reposition the complex as a mixed elderly care community.
